![]() ![]() It’s just a shame it’s not consistent, with the aforementioned frustrating moments and a lack of tension sticking out a lot more over the game’s five levels. Add to that some fun platforming and puzzle-solving and it’s easy to see that Hello Neighbor: Hide and Seek certainly has its share of enjoyable moments. It’s the sort of thing that might invoke memories from your own childhood, with Aaron and Mya even taking on the role of make-believe ‘cops and robbers’ on one level – the way in which real-world objects like sofas and cushions are tied into their design just makes it feel all the clever. The level design is on point for one, with each embracing the children’s imagination in varying ways. That’s not to say it doesn’t have its good points too though. Don’t get me wrong, there’s certainly some satisfaction to be found from solving some of the more elaborate puzzles without needing any help, but a bit of guidance here or there would’ve been appreciated. In fairness, Hello Neighbor: Hide and Seek offers a much simpler experience than that found in the first title, but there are still some aspects of the game and its puzzles that could’ve done with a bit more of an explanation. Hello Neighbor was guilty of putting players straight into the game with little instruction and it’s the same here. Then there’s the fact that the gameplay mechanics aren’t properly explained to the player. Add to that the fact that Aaron is pursuing you (and getting caught resets the level and changes up each toy’s location) and it can make for a pretty frustrating time. ![]() There’s a time-limit imposed on the player too, so sometimes you’ll find yourself scouring across the map as you desperately try to find that last toy that’s seemingly out of your grasp. Firstly, collecting the toys can be a pain thanks to the sheer size of the environments and how well some are hidden away. It’s a simple gameplay experience that works well enough for the most part, but it does have its fair share of issues too. It’s definitely not as nerve-wracking as the first game, for better or worst. Of course, there’s also the sense of dread of knowing you’re being pursued, though the large size of the environment alleviates it a bit – Aaron is always in plain sight so you don’t have to worry about accidentally encountering him in some random room, whilst it’s always easy to hide from him in the abundance of hiding spots that are littered across each level (even if he actually sees you head into the hiding spot). It’s quite similar to the concept of the original game, except rather than investigating this peculiar house you’re instead exploring open worlds that embrace the imaginative side of childhood. The core gameplay experience involves playing hide and seek with your brother, with Mya having to head across a series of imaginative levels to collect toys and solve puzzles as Aaron hunts her down. ![]() ![]() An air of sadness is present throughout and it’s not only conveyed through a series of harrowing cutscenes but also in the level-design where it slowly becomes darker as the game progresses. It’s a tragic tale, with the Neighbor suffering the loss of his wife and Mya and Aaron having to cope not only with the death of their mother but also a grieving father too. Hello Neighbor: Hide and Seek delves a little bit deeper into the Neighbor’s life and how he ended up like he did, all whilst showing how his actions affected his children too. It makes for an interesting gameplay experience, though it’s one that has its fair share of shortcomings that those new to the concept of Hello Neighbor might not be able to easily overlook. Hello Neighbor: Hide and Seek is the first example of that, with it playing as a prequel to the first title – rather than taking on the role of a random kid in the street though, you instead play as the Neighbor’s daughter Mya as she takes part in some games of hide and seek with her brother Aaron. Maybe it was the unique concept of facing off against a constantly learning AI foe, maybe it was the colourful and almost Pixar-like visual style, or maybe it was just the tension of knowing that you could be walking into the vicious Neighbor’s path at any moment – who knows? Either way, the game had a heck of a lot of buzz, so it was only natural that we’d see more releases take place in the game world. Hello Neighbor has proven to be pretty popular amongst gamers and streamers alike, even if it wasn’t necessarily so well-received by critics. ![]() ![]() ![]() I then "follow the lead" of the speaker for the streaming stuff and when they change a powerpoint slide, I change to the next image in the OBS slide show source. But in parallel, I've created a slideshow of images as a scene and source. The speaker has a remote control and they decide when to turn to the next slide for the audience inside the church. ![]() ![]() Right now we actually use a second PC that projects to a local projector inside the church. I've read tons of stuff but can't figure out a way to make it work for us. How to do this right has always been an issue for me. So OBS is running as a window application with its contents screened in a whole window. Programs in Microsoft Windows are organized in windows. So by moving the mouse over to the second screen it gets visible over the captured map, if you want.) a powerpoint slide providing the map) on the second monitor. Often people doing church streaming let obs in fullscreen mode on one monitor and place the external program (in your example, e.g. So i gave the hint with an external monitor. Right? As far as i know there is no possibility to blend the cursor hovering above the view within obs into the stream. With your mouse hovering in the obs window (wherever within that window, even over the program view) its not seen within the stream. That was the hint by user "AccidentalsHappen") You hover the mouse over the (external) program, then it can be seen within the stream (if and when you let the mouse cursor be captured too. for foreign contents and use a window-capture-source within obs to get its contents into a scene. Most people use external programs like powerpoint, pdf readers, browser aso. Now i see that you just inserted the slides as slideshow within obs. So i distinguished between obs (as a whole) in its window, and the program that delivers the slides (in another window). With that in mind, please read my hints again. But now hopefully those of you willing to help, understand my problem and desire much better. ![]() It's possible that I'm only using 10% of the capability of this amazing free OBS application. Also, when I'm done with the map, it would be nice to toggle off the "cursor" so that I don't accidentally stream the cursor when I don't want to. If I moved the cursor out of the Program window, the cursor would disappear. As the cursor moves in to the "Program" window, the viewers would see the mouse moving and point to a specific spot on the map. What I'd like to do, if possible, is when this map is being streamed (per the Program window) is to turn on the cursor display and have the cursor appear on the streamed video on top of the map and for me to move the cursor to point to a specific place on the map that the pastor is talking about. You can see in the lower left of the image that my scene is called "slideshow" and the source is "Test Images" which was a slideshow that comprised three images, for example. What's being streamed right now is on the right side which is the "Program" side and is a map. This video image is queued up and would be the next image to transition to when I'm ready. On the left is a church pastor speaking at a Sunday Sermon. I've attached a screenshot of an example. I also right-clicked the Source name (Test Images) for the slideshow in the source box area and that appears to be options for the sources. I did try clicking and highlighting the Source I set up (called "Test Images) which is an "image slide show source" and then click the properties button right above the Sources area. When I right-click on the Program window (has the map being streamed live), I get three choices Fullscreen Projector (Program), Windowed Projector (Program), and Screenshot (Program). Maybe they meant this mysterious "OBS-studios window" which I don't think I have or use. So when a "map" is active in the "program" window, for example, it would be nice to have the mouse cursor display so I can point to the right spot on the map. The one on the left is labeled "Preview" and the one on the right is labeled "Program". I don't know what an "OBS-studios window" is. ![]() ![]() This means that instead of installing Microsoft word on your Mac you are going to use it online.
